Update

A meeting of local Alphington associations, hosted by the Forum, was held in Alphington School this evening. The purpose was to discuss Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) that will be available to the community from new housing in Alphington. A full report will be published in due course.

Exeter City Council had intended to hold an exhibition/ drop-in event on the subject of new housing, on 15 May 2013. However we have been informed that this will not now take place until sometime in June. Flyers will be distributed and notices put on lamp posts about a week before the exhibition. The exhibition will present points agreed with the Forum. An email notice will be sent to all members of the Forum.

Open Meeting report

The open meeting on 26 February was attended by 44 people. The interactive format of the meeting was most successful with everyone expressing their views on topics such as density and design, traffic and transportation, social infrastructure and environment. All of the views/ comments expressed are being collated and will be entered on the COMMENT section of the web site. The comments on density and design have already been added and can be   viewed by clicking here.

AGM and OPEN MEETING 26 February

 Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 26th February, followed by an open meeting.
The AGM will be held in the Village Hall, Ide Lane at 7.30pm. The AGM will be short (15 minutes) and consist of the:
 
  • Chair’s report on the Forums’ activity,
  • Report on the accounts and
  • Election of the Committee (officers and at least 3 others).

 Following the AGM, the open meeting will be a workshop for residents as we want to hear your views issues we are discussing with the Council: transport, social infrastructure (health education, community facilities etc), housing density and environmental design.
There will be a significant amount of money available from the developer of new homes and we wish to ensure that this money stays in Alphington and the design and design are appropriate.
Let’s face it – we are going to have to put up with extra traffic, pollution, pressure on services such as school, community centre etc. So come and have your say to help shape create a future for Alphington that will benefit old and new residents.
Getting involved is important – the input from the Forum will form supplementary planning guidance and shape the development.

Workshop on Social Infrastructure

Alphington Village Forum held a workshop on 29 January with the Exeter planners on the subject of Social Infrastructure.
The main points of discussion were Alphington School expansion and traffic problems, additional shop/shops and recycling area, new or refurbished community facilities including youth facilities.

Last Tuesday’s open meeting

The open meeting on Tuesday 22nd January was attended by 36 people, including 3 city councillors and 1 county councillor. Many thanks to all who turned out on a snowy evening. We discussed transport and social issues. The next workshop with the council will be held on Tuesday 29 January and will tackle social infrastructure.
