Letter to Exeter City Council Leader

The following letter was sent to Councillor Edwards on October 21st 2017

Dear Cllr Pete Edwards

I attach a proposal from the Alphington Village Forum in response to your offer last March to grant our residents CIL money out of the Exeter City Council  funds (as opposed to the Exeter Community Forum portion) for a project that we consider is the most needed by our village in the future, bearing in mind the imminent South West Exeter development of 2,500 new homes.

You will see that this proposed plan is for the benefit of the future 3,000 or so residents who will be living north of the A379 without any new community facilities whatsoever, unless they are willing and able to walk some distance and up over a high bridge crossing four lanes of this major arterial road to the new Exminster centre.

We would be very grateful if you would consider this far-seeing proposal extremely carefully in order to prevent serious problems in the future, such as even more traffic congestion and air pollution in Alphington, as well as isolation, vandalism, mental health problems and other issues often occurring in communities that have no facilities nearby to enable them to create a hub where they can socialise and form a healthy, cohesive society.

We look forward to hearing from you at your ealiest convenience.

The proposal can be viewed on the Communication page.
